Heidi

Hello There!

I recently went to a junk store with a handful of friends to search and rummage through things from the past. I found rather a lot of pretty tea cups and saucers but I also found this rather lovely book!
I am not sure whether or not to sell it. If you think you would be interest then just let me know but as for now I am willing to keep it for myself because I just love it so much. I am a huge fan of Heidi and the moment I saw the absolutely gorgeous front cover I fell in love with it. I think it is around 40-50 years old but it is still in quite good nick, especially as it is a children's book.

Naturally, I have always loved classics but I think childhood classics are always going to be the best of all in my heart. Due to the memories they made for me and the day dreams that they prompt me to remember from years ago.

I think also the fact that the story is set in Switzerland. I have a little bit of an obsession with the country. Don't tell anybody they will all think I am mad! He, he! I get it from  my Papa. He has always wanted to go too. Maybe we shall go together some day. That would be amazing!

Aaaaaahh, anyway I should stop day dreaming now!
Byesdy Byes.

Thursday Loves!

Hello there Lovelies,
I am so excited today, I am going to be making Ginger Bread Houses!
Insert squeal of happiness.
I am going to be going to my parent's house with my sister and little baby nephew to make lots of festive goodies later on today.
I think I enjoy making the houses best though.
Last year's houses were hilarious. My brother's was held together with rope!
I don' think I shall get time today to photograph anything but I though I should indulge you in a few pretty pictures that I have discovered that have given me inspiration with my future 'disaster house.' He, he!

Aaah, I am going to go get a few ingredients to take over there now. I can't wait any longer!
Bye, Bye,
Chloe xx

The Things I Have Been Enjoying

Ah, Cranford. The most hilarious and captivating period drama I have ever seen! Even my husband has been sitting down to watch it with me after a long day of hard work. It has everything in it for everyone comedy, entertainment, romanticism, and a tiny bit of horror. It is truly an amazing series. To be honest, I can't believe I haven't properly watched it before! Now that we have a free month's worth of Netflix to watch, Cranford is a 'must see' for us.

All of the characters are just so funny and particular in their ways! The elderly ladies, especially are just so comical.

The romance between these two is unbearable I can not ever leave Cranford alone until I find out what happens between them in the end. I really hope they get married! They are both ever so lovely and would make an amazingly good couple.

Aww, don't you just love to see the old folk who are still in love with each other? It makes my heart sing. I am almost more gushy over these two than the young couple up above!

Another thing I have been really enjoying recently is this lovely lady's tumblr account called 'The Murmuring Cottage.'

I find all of her photos on there so immensely inspiring not to mention how pretty they all are!
Here are some that have especially caught my eye during these cold and cosy months.

This lovely photo of a delicate and very detailed embroidery has made me want to go get my sewing box out and start getting down to work! I love the Autumnal colours that are used for it.

This rather beautiful scene has not only inspired me to flower arrange but get down to some winter gardening in preparation for Spring. Hopefully, I shall post some photos of how I get on?

Christmas mince pies. I should start to make some soon. Yippee!

Have any of these photos encouraged you to get up and do some good old fashioned hobbies?

Love,

Thursday Loves!

So, this is my second ever 'Thursday Loves!'  Blog post.
I have to admit, I feel as though Thursdays are becoming the highlight of my bloging week.
I just love to show you all what things have caught my eye over the past seven days and hearing your comments on what you think.

Yesterday, my sister and I went antique finding down in our little town centre. We came across some truly wonderful finds and I couldn't help but show them all off to you! As much as I really do want to display them in my home I am going to be putting them up on my Etsy shop.

These have to be some of my most loved and treasured pieces that I am going to be selling so I couldn't help but include them in this post today.

I bought two of these incredibly decorative and pretty side plates yesterday. They are both vintage and were made in Strappordshire, England. I love the bold colours and the fine details. The silver flowers around the village painting makes it a 'done deal' for me. It is just so pretty! Some of you must think I am crazy but I  just so easily fall in love with vintage china like this.

This plate has to be my favourite of all. The whole colour scheme, in my case, is a dream come true. It is amazing to think what a long time ago it was made yet it matches the modern day idea of cottage chic so perfectly! This one was made by the Johnson Bros. by the company 'Windsor Ware.'

On another note I have recently been getting back into Tumblr. So, I thought I'd show you some of my favourite Winter loving photos I have recently discovered on there. If you haven't seen my Tumblr. account already here is a link to it.

I think Autumn has almost always been my favourite time of the year but so far this year I am pretty sure Winter has been the most happiest time of the year which kind of surprised me. I wasn't expecting it in the slightest. Maybe from now on Winter will be my favourite time of the year, after all. It could possibly be just the anticipation of snow and Christmas arriving? I suppose I shall find out this time next year!

Have a lovely end of the week, all!

Deck The Halls!

Calling all Christmas lovers! This morning I have been snapping shots of all our little festive corners in the cottage for you all. Chris and I have had so much fun dotting all of our much loved Christmas decorations every where. I have always loved especially the traditional type of Christmas decor, so we tried to achieve that as much as possible with the little time we had to shop and the little money we had to buy things with, he, he!

These pretty pine cones sit on top of our wooden chest in the dining room in an Asiatic Pheasant vintage dish. I thought the dish was a little on the festive side with the red and white.

Some of the pine cones have been spray painted gold and scented with cinnamon.

This wreath I managed to pick up from Pound Land, would you believe it? I though it would look rather nice sitting on top of our oak coffee table as a centre piece with a few candles inside. I bought the lovely antique yellow and silver dish from the car boot sale for 50p and I decided I would melt wax crystals into it with some scented oil and TA DA! I have my very own Christmas scented candle.

This fire place wreath was entirely my husband's idea and project. I am very glad he finished it because it makes the whole room look excessively Chritsmasy which truly makes my heart sing! All he did was buy some green and white tinsel which had fake berries in and then got some fair lights and smashed them together and put it up with some nails and bob's you uncle, there you have it!

This little bit of bunting was made by me a few years ago. It sits on our book shelves in the living room and is just a nice touch to our stacks of books.

Noel! These wooden and metallic red blocks were bought in the end of year sales a few years ago and now sit next to our ivy plant by the window.

I can not tell you how much this photo makes my happy. Even though it is nothing special, to me it is a dream come true, A real Christmas tree!! Ah, I have so wanted a real Christmas tree for such a long time. We bought all kinds of different hanging decorations for it. All in the colour of red and gold.

Can you spot my handmade tartan bird from my last post? It is happily sitting at the top near the twig star.

I hope this post has given you some inspiration for these coming weeks. I am sorry if this blog is becoming consumed by Christmas but I just can not wait! He, he.

I shall be posting again soon!
